Essenciais bebé - Amamentação / Baby essentials - Breastfeeding

Estou amamentar o bebé A e tem corrido bem, para amamentar no inicio não são necessários muitos produtos portanto acaba por ser mais económico que o leite artificial e é prático, pois em qualquer lado podemos amamentar.
Claro que, se deixar de ter leite, o artificial será a opção até ter idade para introduzir outros alimentos.
No futuro terei que pensar se compro ou alugo uma bomba para tirar o leite quando eu voltar ao trabalho (se ainda tiver leite).

A minha lista de essenciais:
Creme de lanolina - 17€ (gostei especialmente da marca lansinoh, é mais caro, mas preferi ao da medela que é muito mais conhecido)
Discos para reter o leite de bambu - 4€ 12 discos  (os meus são reutilizáveis e mandei vir do aliexpress)
Fraldas de algodão - 2€ cada (ikea)

I am breastfeeding my baby and is going well; Therefore, breastfeeding does not require many products at first, so it is more economical than artificial milk and is practical because we can breastfeed anywhere.

Obviously, if i no longer have milk, artificial milk will be the option until baby is old enough to introduce other foods.

In the future, I will have to see if I buy or rent a milk pump when I get back to work (if I still have milk).

Toalhitas reutilizáveis / Reusable wipes

Todos sabemos que temos que poupar o ambiente (e a carteira).
Eu pessoalmente gostaria de utilizar fraldas e toalhitas reutilizáveis desde o nascimento do bebé A que vos irei falar mais à frente, mas vamos tentar na mesma assim que ele tiver peso suficiente para as fraldas (não comprámos fraldas reutilizáveis de tamanho recém nascido).
Algumas creches não aceitam bem as toalhitas nem as fraldas reutilizáveis pois têm a ideia que são coisas do passado e que ainda lavamos roupa no tanque como antigamente e que não tem a mesma higiene que uma fralda descartável.
Pedi à minha sogra um lençol de flanela usado mas que já não fizesse falta, cortei esse lençol e quadrados de 22cmx22cm e juntei dois a dois com os lados tal e qual como fiz aqui, deu para 15 toalhitas.

Estou a limpar apenas com água morna, e talvez depois arranje uma solução com o gel de banho, há várias receitas na internet que tenho que pesquisar e testar.

Também uso as toalhitas waterwipes quando sairmos à rua, pois parecem ser as mais naturais para a pele do bebé e são mais práticas fora de casa. Só gostava que fossem biodegradáveis.

Até ao  momento está a correr bem, mas agora está a começar a época das chuvas e não sei como vão correr as secagens de roupa.

We all know that we have to save the environment (and our wallet).

I'd personally like to use reusable diapers and wipes since baby A's birth, I'll talk to you in a post later, but we'll try anyway as soon as he has enough weight for the diapers (we didn't buy reusable newborn diapers)
Most day care centers do not accept either reusable wipes or diapers as they have the idea that is a thing of the past and that we still do laundry in the tank as before and that does not have the same hygiene as a disposable diaper.

I asked my mother-in-law for a used but not needed flannel sheet, cut this sheet and squares of 8,66 inchx8,66 inch and joined two by two with the sides as I did here, Gave me 15 wipes.

I am only cleaning with warm water, and maybe later I can find a solution with the shower gel and water, there are several recipes on the internet that I have to research and test.

We also use the waterwipes when we go out, as they seem to be the most natural for baby's skin and are more practical outside the home. I just wish they were biodegradable.

So far it is going well, but now the rainy season is starting and I don't know how the drying of the clothes will go.

Mala para a maternidade Mãe e Pai /Maternity bag Mom and Dad

Já faltam poucos dias para o nascimento do meu filho, já tenho tudo preparado.
As malas em si, vão ser o mais simples possível, vou usar a minha mala que uso nas nossas viagens, é preta e com rodas, e uma pequena que após  nascimento vai ser usada como saco de fraldas, nada mais prático.

Existem milhares de listas na internet só no pinterest encontramos muitas, mas são quase todas em inglês, mais adaptadas à realidade americana (estou a falar a nível de produtos).
O nascimento será num hospital público em Lisboa e recebi uma lista no curso de preparação para  o nascimento e parentalidade, que já vos falei neste post.

Uma vez que o nascimento será no Hospital de Santa Maria, deram-me indicação para levar numa pequena mala, apenas algumas coisas, e o resto o acompanhante leva quando for transferida para a enfermaria.

Mala da mãe/Pai:

Boletim de saúde da grávida;
Boletim de vacinas,
Cartão do cidadão/folha de isenção;
Exames efectuados durante a gravidez;

1 camisa de dormir

3 camisas de dormir ou pijama de abotoar à frente de modo a facilitar a amamentação;

* nos hospitais públicos em Portugal, normalmente o pai/acompanhante não pernoita no hospital junto da mãe e tem horário de visita.

Tendo em conta a informação dada pela enfermeira, da lista em cima, tirei algumas coisas que coloquei na mala azul, tudo o resto vai na mala preta.

It's only a few day´s before my son's birth, I have everything ready, just need to put it in the suitcase.
The suitcase itself will be as simple as possible, I will use a suitcase that we use in our travels, it is black and with wheels, and a small one  (blue)that after birth it will be used as a diaper bag, nothing more practical.

There are thousands of lists on the internet. At pinterest we find many, but they are almost all in English, more adapted to the American reality (I'm talking about the products, many of them we dont have in Portugal).


The birth will be in a public hospital in Lisbon and I received a list in the birth preparation and parenting course, which I already told you in other post.

Since the birth will be at Santa Maria Hospital, I was told to take a small bag, just a few things, and the rest the companion takes when i was transferred to the ward.

Mother's bag:
Pregnant women's health book;
Vaccine book of the mother;
Citizen's card  (European ID)
Exams performed during pregnancy;

3 front nightgowns or pajamas to facilitate breastfeeding;
Hair elastic;
Ligth robe;
2 or 3 breastfeeding bras;

Mala para a maternidade-Bebé / Maternity bag -Baby

A mala do bebé também já está preparada para levar para a maternidade, a lista foi-me dada no curso de preparação para o parto.
Vou levar tudo numa mala de viagem  com rodinhas que já tinha (não comprei nenhuma mala específica para levar para a maternidade (não achei necessário).

7 mudas de roupa, sendo que 4 conjuntos vão para a maternidade e 3 conjuntos ficam em casa e depois o acompanhante leva se for necessário. (cada conjunto deve ter:)
Babygrow;
Calças algodão com ou sem pé;
Body manga curta ou comprida conforme a estação do ano;
Meias de algodão;
Botinhas de lã (opcional)
Casaco de algodão ou de lã;
Gorro
1 fralda de pano
1 fralda descartável

Este conjunto deverá ser a roupa de saída do hospital (não sei se vai ser possível)

Higiene do bebé:
Fraldas (aproximadamente 12 unidades na foto tenho umas fraldas do Pingo Doce, mas acabei por levar umas da marca Libero, pois ouvi falar bem delas)
Toalhitas (de pano e/ou descartáveis)
Creme assaduras
Pente
Lima /tesoura para as unhas
Toalha de banho (opcional caso o hospital forneça)
Resguardo descartável  (para usar se for necessário)
Compressas esterilizadas
Em Portugal o hospital público providencia os produtos de higiene para o banho do bebé, mas podem levar os vossos se quiserem)

Ovo (em Portugal nenhuma criança sai da maternidade sem estar no ovo)

O nosso ovo é da BeSafe parecido com o modelo em cima

Sugestão: colocar cada muda de roupa num saquinho não esquecendo de colocar 1 fralda de pano e uma fralda descartável em cada saco (se for utilizar fralda descartável)

I'll take everything in a wheeled suitcase I already had (I didn't buy any specific suitcase to take to the maternity ward (I didn't find it necessary).

Tip: Put each change of clothes in a sachet, not forgetting to put 1 burp cloth and a disposable diaper/cloth diaper in each bag.

Recheio de Chocolate / Ultimate Chocolate Frosting-Martha Stewart

Este foi o recheio que coloquei neste bolo, mas após colocar no centro do bolo achei demasiado espesso e a metade da receita adicionei um pacote de natas*.

Ingredientes:
420 gramas de açúcar em pó
170 gramas de manteiga
120 gramas cacau em pó
125 ml leite temperatura ambiente
5ml extracto baunilha

*200 ml natas

Preparação:
Em uma tigela pequena, peneire o açúcar em pó e o cacau em pó.
Adicione manteiga, leite e baunilha, mexa até ficar homogéneo e sem grumos.

This was the filling I put in this cake, but after placing in the center of the cake I found it too thick and half of the recipe I added a packet of cream*.

Ingredients:
3 1/2 cups confectioner's sugar
12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks of butter), room temperature
1 cup cocoa powder
1/2 milk, room temperature
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

* 200 ml cream

Preparation:
In a small bowl, sift together the confectioners' sugar and cocoa powder.
Add butter, milk, and vanilla; stir until smooth and free of lumps.

Bolo de Chocolate Martha Stewart / Chocolate Cake Martha Stewart

Setembro é mês de festa cá em casa, o meu marido faz anos e eu também, o bolo escolhido foi de chocolate com recheio e cobertura de chocolate (sim, muito chocolate!!). A receita é da Martha Stewart Kids - Chocolate Cake - Spring 2005

Esta receita dá um bolo grande, o que vêm na foto é só metade do bolo.

Ingredientes:
175 gramas de cacau em Pó, mais para polvilhar a forma
750 gramas de açúcar (só usei 500 gr, pois is rechear e cobrir o bolo)
480 gramas de farinha
12 gramas fermento
20 gramas de bicarbonato de sódio
10 gramas de sal fino
375 ml de água quente
90 gramas de óleo
375 gramas de leitelho
7,5 ml de baunilha
3 ovos grandes


Preparação:
Peneirar o cacau, o açúcar, a farinha, o fermento, o bicarbonato  de sódio e o sal para uma taça grande.
Nessa mesma taça, colocar a água quente, o óleo, o leitelho, a baunilha e bater com a batedeira até ficar incorporado, adicionar os ovos um a uma batendo com a batedeira entre cada adição de ovo.
Dividir a massa por duas formas de 20 cm que foram barradas com manteiga, com o fundo coberto de papel vegetal e passadas por cacau em pó.
Levar ao forno a 190ºC durante 45 a 55 min se espetar um palito no centro o mesmo deverá vir seco.
Deixar arrefecer o bolo na forma durante 20 min antes de retirar e deixar o bolo arrefecer naturalmente.

O recheio e cobertura do bolo, foi um cruzamento entre receita da Martha Stewart e uma invenção minha, ficou tipo mousse de chocolate e ficou bem bom, mostro nos próximos posts.

September is a month of celebration here at home, it´s my husband birthday, and mine too, the cake i made this years is chocolate cake filled and covered with chocolate (yes, a lot of chocolate !!). The recipe is from Martha Stewart Kids - Chocolate Cake - Spring 2005 issue

This recipe gives a big cake, what comes in the picture is only half of the cake.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder, plus more for dusting
3 cups sugar
3 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoons of salt
3/4 cups vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 large eggs
1 1/2 cups hot water

Preparation:

Sift cocoa, sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt into a large bowl.
In that same bowl, put the hot water, the oil, the buttermilk, vanilla and beat with the mixer until it is incorporated, adding the eggs one by one by beating with the mixer between each egg addition.
Divide the dough into two 20 cm (8 in.) baking pans that have been buttered, covered in parchment paper, and passed through cocoa powder.
Bake at 190ºC for 45 to 55 min if a stick sticks in the center it should come dry.
Allow cake to cool in pan for 20 min before removing and allow cake to cool naturally.

The filling and topping of the cake was a cross between Martha Stewart's recipe and an invention of mine, it was like chocolate mousse and it was very good, I show in the next posts.

Sacos de compras reutilizáveis II /Reusable shopping Bags II

Comprei uns cortinados no ikea que eram muito compridos para o local onde os ia aplicar. Após fazer as medições para as bainhas, sobrou bastante tecido que decidi aproveitar para costurar uns sacos em pano, que uso quando vou às compras de fruta ou pão.
Também os vou usar para levar as mudas de roupa do meu bebé quando for para o hospital.
Fiz uns sacos simples que são 100% algodão e fiz de vários tamanhos com o tecido que tinha disponível.
Para atar utilizei uma fita que já tinha comprado há muito tempo e como não chegou para todos os sacos, utilizei fitas de cetim, que também tenho imensas cores de outros projectos.
No total deu para 6 sacos e foi uma óptima maneira de utilizar este tecido e não o desperdicei.

I bought some curtains at ikea that were too long for the place where I was going to apply them. After measurements, there was a lot of fabric leftover that I decided to use to sew some cloth bags that are to be used when I go shopping fruits or bread.
 I will also use them to bring my baby's first clothes when I go to the hospital to give birth. I made simple bags that are 100% cotton and made of various sizes.

To close the bags I used a ribbon that I had already bought a long time ago and since it was not enough for all the bags, I used satin ribbons, which also have alot of colors from another projetcs.

In total i sew 6 bags.

Gravidez no serviço de saúde público em Portugal / Pregnancy in public services in Portugal

Estou grávida pela primeira vez e foi uma gravidez planeada. Estou a ser seguida num centro de saúde em Lisboa.
Antes de engravidar falei com a minha médica que me aconselhou tomar ácido fólico no mínimo 3 meses antes da concepção (Folicil)
E passou uma série de exames antes do parto para saber se havia incompatibilidades a nível sanguíneo, exames ginecológicos etc.

Após saber que estava grávida fiz a primeira ecografia aos entre as 7 e as 12 semanas com rastreio combinado para detectar alguma anomalia congénita (exame que não está incluído portanto tem que se pagar à parte) Ecografias, fiz análises ao sangue e à urina e só após mostrar os resultados à médica é que tive consulta com a enfermeira que me passou o boletim de saúde da grávida e me efectuaram as pesagens.
Só após ter o boletim é que passei a ser isenta (não pago consultas, nem análises no SNS) já as ecos tive que pagar porque não é comparticipado.
Já agora... no serviço público passam 3 ecografias:

A 1ª ecografia é feita entre as 11 e as 14 semanas.

A 2ª ecografia (morfológica em que fazem as medições a tudo) às 22 semanas (idealmente feita entre as 22 e as 24 semanas) e dou um conselho façam as contas e marquem esta eco o mais cedo possível pois pode não haver vagas em lado nenhum (aconteceu comigo).

A 3ª ecografia foi entre as 30 e as 32 semanas.

A nível de enfermagem  achei que no meu centro de saúde as enfermeiras pouco expeditas mostram pouca iniciativa. Eu que vou ser mãe pela primeira vez achei que tive pouco apoio da parte delas (de certeza que há imensas mães com as mesmas dúvidas ao longo dos anos, o que me valeu foi a internet e posteriormente o curso que vos vou falar em baixo.

Sobre o curso de preparação para o nascimento e parentalidade (vulgo curso preparação para o parto) estava cheio (pelo menos no meu centro de saúde) e nem tive hipótese de me inscrever disseram logo é era muito difícil haver vagas, mas em conversa com uma amiga minha, falou-me do curso de preparação para o nascimento e parentalidade no centro de saúde da Damaia (Amadora), deu-me os contactos, falei com a Enfermeira responsável pelo Curso e como aceitam pessoas de outros centros de saúde, fiz a minha inscrição e assim estou a fazer o curso e estou a gostar muito. (E também estou agradavelmente surpresa com a diferença entre as enfermeiras do meu centro de saúde e deste).

Cheque Dentista para Grávidas:
Não me foi dito que tinha direito a 3 cheques dentista gratuitos (vejam aqui) (tive que ser eu a perguntar para a médica passar e como tenho os dentes bons, só precisei de usar um cheque e fiz uma limpeza aos dentes (só se usa os 3 cheques se for mesmo necessário)
A manutenção dos dentes na gravidez é muito importante! falem com o vosso médico.

Ainda estou a ser seguida no centro de saúde, mas em breve irei para o hospital de referência da zona (que deverá ser o Hospital de Santa Maria).

I am pregnant for the first time and it was a planned pregnancy. I am being followed at a public health center in Lisbon.
Before I got pregnant I spoke to my doctor who advised me to take folic acid at least 3 months before conception.
And the doctor passed a series of tests before to see if there were any incompatibilities at the blood level, gynecological exams, etc.

After learning that I was pregnant, I had my first ultrasound scan at 7-12 weeks with combined screening to detect any congenital anomaly (exam not included so you have to pay separately). After showing the results to the doctor, I consulted with the nurse who gave me the pregnant woman's health book and weighed me up.

Only after having the preagnant book I became exempt (I do not pay consultations or analysis in the NHS) althoug the ECO's i had to pay because it is not contemplated.

By the way ... in the public service the woman do 3 ultrasounds:

The first ultrasound is done between 11 and 14 weeks.

The 2nd ultrasound (morphological where you take measurements of everithing ) at 22 weeks (ideally done between 22 and 24 weeks) and give some advice do the math and mark  this exam as early as possible as there may be no vacancies anywhere (It happened to me).


The third ultrasound was between 30 and 32 weeks.

At the nursing level, I found that in my health center the uninvited nurses show little initiative. I, who will be a mother for the first time, thought that I had little support from them (surely there are a lot of mothers with the same doubts over the years. To me, the internet was a life saver and later the course I will talk to you below.

The birth preparation and parenting course (commonly known as the birth preparation course) was full (at least in my health center) and I had no chance to sign up so soon they said it was very difficult to have vacancies, but in conversation with a friend, she told me about the birth and parenting preparation course at Damaia public Health Center, she gave me the contacts, I spoke with the nurse in charge of the course and they accept people from other health centers. I make my registration and so i am taking the course and i am enjoying it a lot. (And I'm also pleasantly surprised by the difference between the nurses at my health center and this one).

I leave the contact details for those who need to contact the health center about this classes (this class is free, depends on the vacancies, but they have been so busy that they have 2 schedules, one in the morning and one in the afternoon)

Dentist check for Pregnants:

I was not told that I was entitled to tree (3) free dentist checks (I had to ask the doctor to pass the document) Because i have good teeth, I just needed to use 1 check and did a teeth cleaning.
Teeth maintenance in pregnancy is very important! talk to your doctor

I am still being followed at the health center, but soon I will go to the local referral hospital (which should be Santa Maria Hospital (Lisbon)).

DIY Pintar letras de madeira /DIY painting wood letters

Comprámos estas letras em madeira no ikea (Lindrande) para a decoração do quarto do nosso bébé, como os tons são neutros e esta decoração é em madeira decidimos pintar com spray.
Não tem nada que saber e é super fácil, começamos por dar 1 demão de tinta branca e duas demão de azul (usámos a mesma tinta neste cesto ) e é só deixar secar muito bem.

We bought these wooden letters in the ikea (Lindrande) for the decoration of our baby's room, as the tones are neutral and this decoration is in wood we decided to use spray paint.
Has nothing to know and is super easy, we start by giving 1 coat of white paint and two coats of blue (we used the same ink as used in this basket ) and just let it dry very well.

DIY cesto de vime para trocador de fraldas /DIY wicker basket changing table

Já estamos a preparar o quarto do nosso bebé, escolhemos as cores neutras para a decoração em geral com alguns apontamentos de cor.
Escolhemos o tradicional azul para os apontamentos.
Para cesto que vai estar perto do local onde prevemos mudar as fraldas vamos usar um cesto que já tínhamos anteriormente, mas que era muito escuro para a decoração pretendida.
Começámos por dar a 1ª demão com spray branco e depois finalizamos com 2 demão com a tinta azul.
Usamos a Rust-oleum chalky finish Azul do Céu em spray.
Depois forrei novamente o cesto com um tecido mais claro que é igual aos cortinados do quarto comprei estes Hannalill no ikea, como os cortinados são compridos ainda sobrou para forra este cesto e outro projecto que vos vou falar mais noutros post.
Coloquei também um feltro por baixo para o cesto não riscar a pintura do móvel que também pintámos (já vos mostrei neste post).

No total as tintas ficaram em cerca de 15€, mas foi um bom investimento,  1º os cestos de verga são caríssimos e não encontrávamos o tamanho que precisávamos e depois também usámos o spray branco noutro projecto e ainda sobrou tinta azul para outro apontamento do quarto que vos vou mostrar também noutro post.

We are already preparing the room of our baby, we chose the neutral colors for the general decoration with some notes of color.
We chose the traditional blue color for notes.
For basket that will be in the place where we plan to change the diapers  and we used a basket that we had previously but that was too dark for the decoration i wanted.
We started by giving the first coat with a white spray and then finished with 2 coats of blue paint.
We use the Rust-oleum chalky finish Blue Sky spray, then lined the basket with ligther fabric that is the same as the curtains of the room  we bought this curtains Hannalill in ikea, the curtains were so long  that i have spare  fabric for lining this basket and another project that I will tell you more in other post.
In total all the paints cost about € 15, but it was a good investment, 1ª wicker baskets are expensive and we didn't find the size that we needed and we also used the white spray in another project and there is still blue ink left for another decor in the room that I will show you in another post. 
i also put a felt underneath for teh basket not to scratch the painting of the furniture that we also painted (i already showed you in this post)
